Neva Janet Kaiser
NEVA JANET KAISER
Neva Kaiser, of rural Lewis, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at the age of 81 in the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, Iowa.
Neva Janet was born on March 15, 1930 to James Boyd and Goldie Sadie Swolley Gustason north of Atlantic in Lorah, Iowa. She grew up in the Atlantic area and attended Atlantic schools, graduating from the 8th grade. She married Duane Elton Kaiser on May 11, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and they were married for over 63 years. They lived in rural Lewis until 1950 when they moved to Anita. In 1962 they moved back to rural Lewis where they made their permanent residence. Neva and Duane joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1951 and were active members. Neva was a loving mother and loved children. She was a homemaker all of her life. Neva worked hard taking care of the house and enjoyed being outside taking care of her flowers and garden. She also enjoyed all of her trips to California. Neva’s family, children and grandchildren were a delight to her. She loved gardening, picnics, canning, croquet and cooking.
Neva is survived by her husband, Duane, of Lewis; five children, Susan Schuler and husband, Warren (Butch) of Springdale, AR, Danny Kaiser of Lewis, Wesley Kaiser and wife, Bonnie, of Bellevue, NE, Nancy Radford and husband, Doug, of rural Griswold, and Sherry Askeland and husband, Shawn, of Griswold, IA; five grandchildren, Chris Radford and wife, Carrie, of Treynor, IA, Jamie Krall of Bellevue, NE, Jesse Kaiser and wife, Heather, of Bellevue, NE, Ryan Askeland and wife, Sara, of Griswold, IA and Cory Askeland and wife, Ashley, of Omaha, NE; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her siblings include her sisters, Donna Molden of Indiana, Darlene Appleman of Utah and Jane Beber of California; brothers, Ronnie Gustason, Billy Gustason and Mike Gustason of California and Clifford Gustason of New Mexico; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Jim, Jerry, Harvey, Denny and Dale Gustason; one sister, Ann and many aunts and uncles.
There will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA on Thursday and Friday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, on Saturday from 8:00 am to noon, on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 5, at the funeral home with services following at 2:00 pm with Heubart Bardin, of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Atlantic, officiating. The interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis, Iowa.
