Norman Juelsgaard

Norman Juelsgaard, age 89, from Elk Horn, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 17, 2004 at the Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, Iowa. Norman Juelsgaard was born September 16, 1915 to Nels and Laura (Fredricksen) Juelsgaard in Elk Horn, Iowa. He spent most of his life in the Elk Horn and Kimballton, Iowa areas except for a few years when he resided north of Atlantic, Iowa. Norman enjoyed his family and whistling. In fact, if he wasn"t whistling, you knew something was wrong. He spent his life as a farmer. On December 10, 1937, he was joined in marriage to Verda S. Reich. They farmed in Shelby, Audubon and Cass counties before moving to town in 1988 after his retirement in 1978. Norman was a member of the Elk Horn Lutheran Church and the Elk Horn Saddle Club. He spent many years as a little league baseball coach in Marne and Jacksonville. He is survived by his wife Verda of Elk Horn; three sons, Ronald and wife Beverly of Exira, Jimmie and wife Diana of Elk Horn and Lynn and wife Trudy of Elk Horn; a former daughter-in-law, Becky Hansen and Kevin of Treynor; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Michaelsen of Atlantic and Viola Jensen of Elk Horn; brother-in-law Folmer Reich of Elk Horn; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
