Theresa Jones

Theresa Jones of Atlantic, Iowa, age 77, passed on the morning of Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Atlantic.Teresa (Terri) Ann Fisher was born October 24, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska to Peter and Anna Fisher. Terri grew up with her sister and parents in an apartment above their grocery store in South Omaha. She met the man that would soon become her husband, Ernest (Ernie) Jones in early 1940s. They would marry a few years later and have eight children; six sons and two daughters.Terri was an outgoing woman with a big heart for helping people. She loved attention and enjoyed being creative. She learned to sew at an early age, making everyone in her family custom clothing. She'd loved to cook and decorate using all the newest techniques she could discover. And later in life, she would find painting to be her passion. After taking an art class at age 52, Terri painted every chance she got. When she went to the nursing home in May of 2001, they gave her an extra room just to paint in, but only during 'regular business hours'. With a strong desire to get her way, she would sneak supplies into her room - which was forbidden - so she could paint evenings and weekends. Terri found peace and happiness in painting and she painted the last day of her life. Knowing she got away with something made it that much better.Terri passed away suddenly early in the morning of January 15, 2003 from heart failure in Atlantic, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Anna Fisher; husband, Ernest Jones; sister, Irene Cronin; brother-in-law, John Cronin; and son-in-law, Dewey Stuart.Kerry is survived by six sons and two daughters, Greg (son) of Scottsdale, Arizona; David (son) and Rosie of Atlantic, Iowa; Chris (son) and Connie of Atlantic, Iowa; Ken (son) and Linda of Walnut, Iowa; Robin (son) and Theresa of Exira, Iowa; Pete (son) and Pennie, Nicky Stuart (daughter), Tina (daughter), and Dale Mruz of Omaha, Nebraska; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.Funeral InformationA funeral mass was held for Terri on Friday, January 17, 2003, at 10:30 A.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic with Msgr. Lawrence Beeson officiating. Interment was in Omaha, Nebraska.
