Ruth E. Johnson
Ruth Eva Johnson, a long time resident of the Griswold area, age 94, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Home in Red Oak, Iowa.Ruth Eva Johnson, the daughter of Frank and Cora (Ferguson) Elles, was born on the family farm in Cass County northeast of Griswold on August 29, 1910. She graduated from the Lewis High School in 1928. She was married to Lyle Johnson in Griswold on April 5, 1933. They farmed in the Atlantic and Griswold areas until her husband"s retirement in 1972. Ruth remained on the family farm her entire life except for a short time spent in Washington D. C. during WWII when her husband was employed at the Naval Research Lab. She was a member of the Lewis Church of Christ.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle in 1981 and her sister, Margaret James.She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Johnson; four nieces, Helen McCoughney of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Mary Lou Burnett of Bloomfield, Minnesota, Janet Markley of Urbandale, Iowa, Judy Sangren of Oviedo, Florida and other grand nieces and nephews.Services for Ruth will he held Monday, March 28, 2005, at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Christ in Lewis with Reverend David Anderson officiating.
