Nancy L. Johnson
Nancy Louise Johnson, 77, of Elk Horn, Iowa, formerly of Brayton, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.Nancy was born the daughter of J.H. and Louise Smith McElroy on June 29, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas. She grew up and graduated in Fort Worth. She worked in Tech Terrel Labs in the Fort Worth and Dallas areas where she sang in "Big Bands" and worked with Pat Boone and Red Skelton, to name a few, under the name Nan Roy, taken from her maiden name. Nancy was married to W. L. "John" Johnson in Durant, Oklahoma on June 17, 1959. The couple raised their family mostly in Iowa, however they moved around, living in Abilene, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Nome, Alaska; Vista, California; Paris Island, South Carolina; Cainsville, Missouri; Atlantic, Brayton and Elk Horn, Iowa. Their children, seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren were the loves of her life. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, Bible study, working crosswords and word jumbles, and volunteering at her church. She and John went on countless vacations with friends. She was very creative and strong willed, and could be considered a little mischievous to some, but always in good fun. She was giving, kind and caring and will be remembered as a great friend, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Most of all, she loved her family and loved to make them happy. Her presence was noticed and will be missed by all that knew her. Survivors are her husband, John Johnson; her son, Rev. Mike Miller and his wife Carolyn, their three daughters and son all of Taiwan; her daughters, Jan Smith and her husband David, their two sons and daughter of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sheila Bintner of Brayton and her children Nate Potts and his wife Carrie (and their children, Trey, Aiden and Anna of Elk Horn), Elijah, Hannah, Elizabeth, Madeline, Abigail and Gabriella; and Leisha Smith of Atlantic and her children, John and Aaron; the following all of Texas: a sister Betty Polasek and her husband Edward of Fort Worth and their children, Ron and his wife Jennifer, Edward Joe Polasek and wife Deborah and their children, nieces, Laura and husband Dan Jones and their children, Belinda and husband Robert Kalmoe and children; and an Aunt Elaine Earl.
