Leona Johnson

Leona Drothel Johnson, 89, of Atlantic, passed away Monday afternoon, May 7, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The daughter of Ernest Frederick and Sarah Esther (Cooper) Sothman, Leona was born February 23, 1912, southwest of Cumberland where she grew up and attended Pringey Country School #1. She was united in marriage to Ted Johnson on November 14, 1949, in Lyman. Following marriage they moved to Atlantic. Ted passed away August 7, 1957.Leona is survived by one son, Richard L. Johnson and his wife, Joyce M., of Park Ridge, Illinois; one granddaughter, Sarah Y. Johnson; two sisters, Clara Sunderman of Griswold and Darlene Petersen of Atlantic; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Sothman of Griswold; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted Johnson; and one brother, Vergal W. Sothman.
