Obituary for
Larry P. Johnson
Larry Johnson, 65, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2004 in his home in Cumberland, IA. He was born April 30, 1939 to Joseph and Velpa Johnson at home on a farm south of Cumberland. Larry grew up attending country school and graduated in Atlantic. He was married to Zoe Nelson on February 15, 1965 in Red Oak. The couple farmed in the Cumberland area until retirement.Larry had many loves; his grandkids and watching their activities and he, unblushingly, loved to eat. His roundness and jolliness helped to make a wonderful memory as "Santa Claus" with Zoe as "Mrs. Santa" and their beloved live reindeer entertained many families over several years. He loved the Lord and he and Zoe attended the Gospel Hall Fellowship. For hobbies, he enjoyed the out-of-doors, deer hunting and playing cards. Larry served as a member of the National Guard for eight years. He is survived by his wife Zoe and four sons and their families; Ted Johnson and wife Angie of Cumberland and children Cody and Cole, Tony Johnson and wife Sharmie and children Rae Ann, Hannah, Josiah and Moriah of Ankeny, IA., Andy Johnson and wife Kara of Des Moines and Alex Johnson and wife Angie of Atlantic.Larry is preceded in death by his dad.Funeral InformationIN LOVING MEMORY OFLARRY PETE "TRUCK" JOHNSONBorn April 30, 1939Cumberland, IowaENTERED INTO RESTJune 19, 2004His home in Cumberland65 years, 1 month, 19 daysFUNERAL SERVICEWednesday, June 23, 200410:30 A.M.Roland Funeral HomeAtlantic, IowaOFFICIATINGPastor Jerry BishopMassena Church of ChristC.
