George Johnke
Cecil Jahnke, 84, of Atlantic, died Friday afternoon, April 2, 2004, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. Cecil was born on the Jahnke Family Farm near Lewis, Iowa, on June 13, 1919, the son of George and Edna (Robson) Jahnke. He attended school at Lewis where he graduated in 1936 and married Arlene Bode in 1941. They farmed and he also drove a truck and school bus. He was a member of the Lewis Methodist Church, the Eagle"s Lodge (Fraternal Order) and a former Mason. He left the farm in the early 70"s and worked for several lumber yards for the latter part of his life. He is survived by his daughter Charlene West and her husband Kenneth of Waukon, Iowa; a daughter-in-law Linda Jahnke of Lewis; a special friend Bernice Meurer of Atlantic; five grandchildren, Kenneth Alan West of Iowa City, Iowa, Christopher Jahnke and wife Keri of Griswold, Iowa, Amie Potter and husband Brent of Griswold, Tamie Madsen and husband Brad of Kimballton and Jeremy Jahnke and wife Cindi of Omaha, Nebraska; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
