Doris Johnk

Doris Annette Johnk of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at the Heritage House early Friday morning on September 3, 2010, at the age of 83. Doris Annette Nelson was born August 28, 1927 to Gerald and Lillie (Hanson) Nelson at Exira, IA. She attended school there graduating from Exira High School. Her marriage to Vernon Herman Johnk took place on February 12, 1950, at her parent"s home near Exira. Vernon and Doris farmed south of Walnut until 1979, when they moved to Atlantic. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Lobaugh of Dow City, IA and LuAnn Woolsey and husband Robert of Lewis, IA; two sons, Dennis Johnk and wife Carol of Lincoln, NE and Garry Johnk of Atlantic; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister Evelyn Petersen of Stuart, IA; a sister-in-law, Wanda Nelson of Exira, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon in 1997; her parents; a daughter, Carolyn Johnk; three grandsons, Vernon D. Johnk, Quentin C. Johnk and Brent Woolsey; and a brother.Funeral Information There will be open visitation on Saturday and Sunday September 4 and 5 from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. and Monday, September 6 from 8:00 to 5:30 P.M. The family will meet with relatives and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 6 at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 7 at United Church of Christ in Atlantic.
