Wayne Jensen

Wayne Robert Jensen, Sr., age 81, formerly of Atlantic, IA died Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at his home in Washington, UT. Wayne was born February 24, 1923 in Fiscus, IA to Jens Martinus and Helen Robertha (Christensen) Jensen. He grew up and attended school in the Shelby County area before moving to Council Bluffs, IA and then to Atlantic in 1986. He farmed and was employed as a truck hostler working for Gooches, Union Freightways and the Pacific Intermountain Express until his retirement in October 1975 after 32 years. Wayne was united in marriage to Hazel (Tiny) Jensen in Omaha, NE on November 11, 1942. Tiny passed away in June of 1995. On January 27, 1997 in Las Vegas, NV, he was married to Mary Estes of Washington, UT and moved to Utah. Wayne was a member of the Teamsters and Good Sam Club. He enjoyed visiting with others, traveling and fishing. He is survived by his wife Mary Jensen; one son, Wayne (Sonny) Jensen, Jr. and wife Barbara of Atlantic; three daughters, Rosemary Kirkendall of Oak Forest, IL, Janene Timm and husband Herman of Council Bluffs and Linda Gardner and husband Tom of Council Bluffs; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a step-mother, Lillian Jensen of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Grace McNabb and husband Swede of Council Bluffs and June Hanna of Council Bluffs; three brothers, Earl and wife Denise of Henderson, NV, Bruce and wife Ruth of Treynor, IA and Norman and wife Mary Jo of Council Bluffs; many nieces, nephews and friends.
