Leonard Jensen
Leonard Jensen, 81, a longtime resident of rural Brayton/Atlantic area passed away on Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn. Leonard was born, August 23, 1923, the son of Soren Jensen and Elizabeth M. Petersen, on his parents" farm west of Exira, Iowa. He was confirmed at the Oak Hill Lutheran Church west of Brayton, Iowa. He attended rural school at Oak Field # 6 west of Brayton. Leonard then started farming with his dad, brothers, and sister. They lived and farmed on several farms in the Brayton area. In 1957 they purchased their present farm. Leonard"s brother, Emory, farmed there two years. In 1959 siblings, Leonard, Edna, Otis and their dad moved on. Otis still lives on the farm.Leonard was very dedicated to his farming operation, taking care of the grain and hog operation. In 1993 Leonard retired from farming for health reasons. He enjoyed going to Atlantic several times during the week seeing his various friends, young and old. Also having coffee at home with his friends and neighbors who came to visit.Survivors include his sister, Edna of the Salem Home; his half-sister, Ione Brown and her husband, Kenneth and family from Waterverliet, Michigan; his brother, Otis Jensen from rural Atlantic (west of Brayton) and his friends and relatives from the surrounding area.
