Frankie Marie Jave
Frankie Marie Jave, 98, a resident of the Heritage House in Atlantic passed away Sunday, April 13, 2003 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.The daughter of Frank and Fannie (Boiler) Schmitt, Frankie was born west of Lewis on December 8, 1904. The family moved north of Atlantic when Frankie was one year old and moved into town when she was 13. She graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1922. Frankie while as a member of the First United Methodist Church and found a special relationship with her Lord in a tent revival in 1917. She took normal training and taught country school, and of particular interest to our area, she taught in the country school house that now stands in Sunnyside Park here and was a part of its dedication and a special documentary that was made of it.Frankie married Harry Jave on June 15, 1929 and the couple farmed several places until 1953 when they settled in Atlantic. She would an active lady as she enjoyed being a member of the Esther Circle at church and served as a church aid; raised, dressed, and sold chickens; was employed at the Coast-to-Coast hardware store and was known for her talents with handwork, sewing for the family, quilting, and making many lap robes.Surviving is a son, Lennie Jave and his wife, Judith, of Johnston, Iowa; two grandsons, Dan Jave of Urbandale, Iowa, and James Jave and his wife, Katia, of Baltimore, Maryland; two great-granddaughters, Samantha Jave of Urbandale, Iowa and Madeline Jave of Baltimore, Maryland; step granddaughter, Tonya Holbert and her children, Ashley and Brandon of Vienna, West Virginia; a nephew, Larry Johnson of Lakeland, Florida; two nieces, Maxine F. Blunk of Atlantic and Darlene Armstrong and her husband, Kenneth, of Anita, Iowa. Great-nieces and nephews include; Mary Jo Blunk of Atlantic, Iowa, Rosella Blunk of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Earl Blunk and his wife, Carolyn, Leita Blunk of Atlantic, Iowa, Dave Blunk and his wife, Carol, of Englewood, Colorado, Lu Ann Slayton and her husband, Darrell, of Manson, Iowa. Also, the Johnson great-nieces and nephews, Ricky, Chucky, Becky, Patti, Christy and Clifton and many great great-nieces and nephews.Frankie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Eugène Jave; one sister, and a step granddaughter, Michelle Russell.Funeral InformationServices for Frankie will be held Thursday, April 17, 2003, at 10:30 A.M. at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Reverend Tompsie Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
