Frances Jameson

Frances Jameson, 75, of Marianna, Florida, formerly of Lewis, Iowa, passed away June 6, 2018, at her home.

Frances was born on October 1, 1942, in Chipley, Florida, the daughter of E.D. and Sally (Coley) Locke, and growing up lived in Lake Worth, Florida. In 1972, she moved to Iowa and began working in Atlantic at Jim’s Supermarket in the meat department. Fran later worked as a waitress at the Overland Truck Stop, near the interstate, and the Atlantic and Griswold Care Centers as a cook.

On April 1, 1993, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Jameson at the Cass County Courthouse and they made their home on an acreage in Lewis. Proud of her community, she was a longtime and active member of the Lewis Town and Country Boosters. Fran’s willingness to go the extra mile resulted in many fundraisers for the construction of the new Lewis Community Center. She loved to cook, especially for a crowd, and left many of her favorite recipes for others to enjoy at the community center. Fran felt it was important for the community to know what was happening so she started a town newsletter, sending over 200 each month. Everyone loved to visit Fran and Dick, especially the grandchildren, because of their array of animals which included mini goats and a potbelly pig. Another bonus of visiting was the delight Dick and Frances received in sharing the “fruits of their labor” from their large garden. The couple also sold their produce at the local farmers market; their profit helping to take trips with the grandchildren. One of the most memorable trips was one taken to Walt Disney World in Florida. Frances looked forward to yard sale season; always finding a great bargain. She was a member of Eagles Lodge #3763 in Atlantic. In 1996, a few years after Dick’s death, Frances returned to Florida.

Fran is survived by her children, Richard (Kim) Lollie of Florida, Vicky Ericksen of Kimballton, Lonnie Lollie of Kimballton, Mark Jameson of Florida, Terri Smith of Atlantic, Gary (Paula) Jameson of Lewis, Larry (Tammy) Jameson of Arizona, and Gerald Jameson of Glenwood, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, E.D. and Sally Locke; husband, Dick Jameson; son, James Mackiel Lollie; brother, Jackie Locke; and son-in-law, Kenneth Ericksen.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis, with Chaplain Sam Jacobs of Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn officiating.
