Dagny James

Dagny James, 90, a longtime resident of Atlantic who has resided at the Heritage House the past couple years, passed away Friday, February 8, 2002 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The daughter of Thomas Christian Fredrick and Marie Bertina (Madsen) Jorgensen, Dagny was born September 21, 1911 in Elk Horn, Iowa. She graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Dr. Ernest G. James, November 8, 1929 in Iowa City, Iowa. Dagny lived in Elk Horn, Iowa until 1935, in Massena for a year, in Exira from 1937 to 1945 and she has lived in Atlantic since 1946. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic.Surviving are two sons, Robert James of San Francisco, California and Terri James and wife Gayla of Seal Beach, California; one daughter Susan Lovell and husband Mike of Griswold, Iowa; five grandchildren, Tom Lovell and wife Jena of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Gina Lantry and husband Tom of Omaha, Nebraska, Rob Lovell of Overland Park, Kansas, Kristi James of Vacaville, California and Kevin James and wife Chrissie of Vacaville, California; eight great-grandchildren, Trey, Tanner and Tori Lovell, Wyatt and Paige Lantry, Nicole Shafer, Terresa Beaufils and Davis James; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Elma Blake and Alma Marshall.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Dagny will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic at 10:30 AM with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. There will be a visitation Monday evening, February 11, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the Roland Funeral Home.
