Roy Ernest Jahnke
ROY ERNEST JAHNKE Roy Ernest Jahnke, age 92, passed away at the Allen House in Atlantic, Iowa on Sunday evening, November 2, 2008. Roy was born to Ernest William and Emma (Buttenhoff) Jahnke on January 19, 1916 southeast of Lewis, Iowa and grew up there graduating from the Lewis High School. On June 4, 1949 he was united in marriage to Lois Yulon Campbell in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They farmed southeast of Lewis and Roy was a custodian and bus driver at the Lewis school. Roy was a certified ceramic teacher, a member of the Nishna Valley Wood Carvers; Mid America Wood Carvers Association of Omaha, Nebraska and Audubon Town & Country Wood Carvers. Survivors include one sister Evelyn Rossell and a number of nieces and nephews. Roy is preceded in death by his wife Yulon, his parents and three sisters, Gertrude Linkletter, Alice Herman and Helen Lowe.Funeral InformationServices for Roy will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008, at the United Congregational Methodist Church in Lewis at 10:30 AM with PastorNadine Aydt officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis. There will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with a visitation with the family at 9:30 Friday morning at the church before services.
