Obituary for Naomi Irene Ingram

Naomi Irene Ingram, 83, of Council Bluffs and former long time Lewis resident, passed away Friday, April 13, 2001, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.Naomi was born August 27, 1917, in Walnut, Iowa, the daughter of Florin Slyter and Margaret (Dermyer) Hartness. She lived in Cumberland and then Lewis for the majority of her life, moving to Council Bluffs nine months ago. She was a graduate of Lewis High School. On November 23, 1938, she was united in marriage to Lyle L. "Tiny&" Ingram. She and her husband owned and operated a truck stop near Lewis from 1943 to 1957 and she later worked for Cass County Abstract office until retiring. She was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church in Lewis, the Federated Club and the Women's Fellowship Christian Service. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.Surviving are three daughters, Colleen Silkman of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Donna Barr of Overland Park, Kansas and Debbie Merner and her husband, Dan of Eugene, Oregon; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Hargens, Greg and Connie Silkman, Darren Silkman, Darrick Silkman, Chris Wirtz, Stephenie and Dag Alvarado, Courtney Merner, Micki Merner and Christian Merner; and 12 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters and one grandchild.Roland Funeral Service -- Atlantic, IowaFuneral InformationServices for Naomi were held Monday, April 16, 2001, at 2:00 PM at the United Congregational Methodist Church at Lewis, Iowa with Reverend Sharon Guffey officiating.Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis, Iowa.
