Obituary for Agatha L. Hutchinson

Agatha Leta Buddin Hutchinson was born in Lorville, Iowa, January 15, 1914, to Everett Orrin Buddin and Minnie Catherine Barbara (Loebel) Buddin. The family moved to Farnhamville and later to Jefferson when Leta was a small child. She attended the Jefferson Elementary School until the second grade. The family then moved to Carroll, where she attended the Carroll Public School, graduating in 1931. She was baptized and a member of the First Untied Presbyterian Church in Carroll. She, also, taught Sunday School.Leta worked for the Berg Company in Carroll until her marriage to Leonard Harrison Hutchinson July 30, 1936, in Vermillion, S.K. They lived in Carroll and later moved to Shenandoah, where they lived for 10 years until March 1, 1948, when they moved to Atlantic.Leta worked for the Henry Field Company in Shenandoah. In Atlantic, she had worked for the Beaudine Lamp Shade Company and was proof-reader and food editor for the Atlantic News-Telegraph for 27 years.In 1943 while living in Shenandoah, Mrs. Hutchinson joined the First United Methodist Church. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. She belonged to Ruth Circle, United Methodist Women, Cass County Hospital Auxiliary and the women"s monthly coffee group.Surviving are a daughter, Judith Ann Watson of Indianola, and her husband, Vinton Philip Watson; a granddaughter, Laura Ann Linenberg of Westfield, N.J., and her husband, David; a grandson, Philip Vinton Watson of Des Moines; a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert E. Wagner of Glidden; nieces; nephews; and cousins.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, on August 18th, 1994; her parents; five brothers, Orrin, John, Loebel, James and Eugene; three sisters, Mildred Glouser, Virginia M. Wagner and Donna Ruth Welbourne.Leta's funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 14th at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Her family will meet with friends for a visitation on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00, at which time Pastor Gary DeGeest will lead with a prayer service.
