Albert George Huss
Albert George Huss, 91, of Atlantic, passed away Friday, August 24, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The son of Fred C. and Francis E. (Schlotterbeck) Huss, Robert was born May 31, 1910 in Adair, Iowa. He was baptized as an infant at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa on May 29, 1927. He attended school in Adair, Guthrie Center, Atlantic and then Adair where he lived with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William A. Huss and family. He returned to Atlantic in 1927 where he was employed as a farm hand until September 1936 when he was employed by Economy Oil Company. In 1940 he became manager of the Atlantic Building Supply Company service station until the business was sold in 1965. He was then employed by Templeman Oil Company until 1971 when he was employed by a Gasoline Alley until retirement in 1977. He then worked in the Atlantic Cemetery. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Turner on June 27, 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.Albert is survived by a son-in-law, Richard Sungren and his wife Mary of Clive , Iowa; two grandsons, Joel Sungren of Des Moines, Iowa and Justin Sungren of Chicago, Illinois; and cousins, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years; their only daughter, Peggy Ilene Huss Sungren; his brother, Lawrence W. Huss; two sisters in infancy, Alvina and Mary; and two cousins, Ethelyn Huss Hopkins and Leona Huss Barnhouse.Funeral InformationServices for Albert will be held Monday, August 27, 2001, at 1:30 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Allen D. Hellwege officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa.
