Louise Morrow Hunt, born February 23, 1921, in Atlantic, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the age of 96. She was the daughter of Ralph Dale and Alma (Stier) Morrow. Louise graduated from Atlantic High School in 1938, Christian College (now Columbia College) in 1940, and the University of Missouri in 1942.
Louise was married September 22, 1942, to Charles Willard Hunt at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic. Because of World War II, they immediately left Atlantic for the San Francisco Bay area where Charles was stationed. Louise loved to dance, read, travel, paint and write poetry. Lyrical Iowa honored her talents in poetry with numerous prizes and awards including the Dwight G. McCarty Award for Nature Poetry – First Place for her poem “On Selling an Horizon to Business.”
As an Atlantic resident for 96 years, Louise touched the lives of many people with her sweet smile and kind words. In her younger years, Louise was a Girl Scout and Red Cross volunteer. Later, Louise became a strong supporter of Atlantic through her involvement with Cass County Memorial Hospital, Heritage House, and the Atlantic School Foundation.
