Jay Humphrey

Jay Humphrey, 44, died at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic on Saturday, June 9, 2007.He was born the son of Dr. James Laurence and Barbara (Haynes) Humphrey in Atlantic on September 29, 1962. He graduated with the Atlantic High School Class of 1981. He graduated from Iowa Western Community College and went on to Iowa State University where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. Jay was employed by Snyder & Associates, Inc. in Atlantic. Jay was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a member of the Nishna Hills Golf Club, the Elks Lodge and participant in the Super Bowl Traveling Team. He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Cubs. Jay"s family and friends will treasure his dry sense of humor and wit, which provided endless entertainment. He will be remembered as an organizer and participant in golf tournaments, always willing to give of himself for the club"s fund raising projects.He is survived by his mother Barbara Humphrey of Atlantic; a brother Jon Humphrey and his wife Cindy; a sister Jo Beth Jensen and her husband Jack of Atlantic; his nieces and nephews, Heather Margain and Abel of McAllen, Texas, Lindsey Jensen of Des Moines, Andrew Jensen of Ames, Jackie Jensen of Atlantic, Chad Steffens and Lori and daughter Lily of North Liberty, Nicole Steffens and Matt and children Makynzie and Ethan of Wiota and Jason Humphrey of Coralville. His uncles, Dr. Carroll Haynes and Shirley of Webster City and Richard Haynes of Des Moines; and a number of cousins. Jay is preceded in death by his father Dr. James L. Humphrey; his brother Dr. James R.
