Obituary for James Leroy "Jim Bob" Houston

JAMES "JIM" HOUSTON

James Leroy Houston, 58, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at Creighton Medical Center, in Omaha, on Monday, May 21, 2012.
Jim was born February 21, 1954, the son of Lloyd L. and Dollie Marie (Marquardt) Houston in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He finished his formal schooling at Thomas Jefferson High School.
Jim has been a fisherman and a hunter and a collector of many items. He especially enjoyed spring break trips with his niece and nephew, Jake and Emily. Jim will be admired for being jolly and kind spirited. "He was always laughing!"
He is survived by his sisters, Sandra K. Petersen of Palm Bay, FL, Mary Gould and husband, Jeff, of Swan, IA, Donna Salinas and husband, Shino, of Dewey, OK; other family members and friends; and his life long friend, Virginia Farley.
He was preceded in passing by his parents and his brother, Lloyd Ernest "Ernie" Houston.
Open visitation will be held from 8:00 to 5:30 daily, Wednesday and Thursday, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Jim’s celebration of life will be held at Rolands at 11:00AM on Friday, May 25. Pastor Don McLean, of Evangelical Free Church in Atlantic, will officiate. The committal service will be in Layton Township Cemetery at Walnut, IA at a later time.
