Laura G. Hoover
Laura Grace Hoover, passed away at the age of 91 years and three days, Monday, October 25, 2004 At Colonial Manor in Anita, Iowa where she resided.Laura Grace Hoover daughter of Herman E. and Amelia K. Brockman Alff, was born October 22, 1913 at their home near Hancock, Iowa in Pottawattamie County. Laura was baptized and confirmed at the Oakland Lutheran Church in Anita. She attended rural school near Hancock where she graduated from the eighth grade. She worked in many different jobs as a waitress and caretaker of elderly people. On July 7, 1944 lore was married to Harry R. Golson and on March 8, 1950, a son Gary, was born. The marriage was dissolved in 1951 on October 22, 1955 she married Melvin Hoover and lived in Harlan, Iowa where she worked as a waitress. Due to health reasons, this marriage was dissolved in 1957. Because of her health she was placed in health-care facilities most of her remaining years.She is survived by her son Gary Golson and wife Lorna of New London, Iowa; two granddaughters, Kimberly O'Neal and husband David of Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Kelly Golson of Ankeny, Iowa; one great-granddaughter, Shannon Emily O'Neal; one sister, Adah Johnson and one sister in law Harriett Alff, both of Anita; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
