Obituary for
Joe S Holloway
Joe Holloway, 65, of Atlantic, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017, at Cass County Memorial Hospital.
Joseph Sidney Holloway was born on January 4, 1952, at home in Anita, Iowa, the son of Albert Sidney and Mary Marie (Ferdig) Holloway. He attended school in Anita, Bronson, McClelland and Treynor. As a child he loved to fish, and this was a hobby he continued as an adult.
In 1983, he met the love of his life Peggy Sue. After years of memories and being each others constant companion they married on April 16, 1997. The couple made Atlantic home in 2011.
Throughout his life Joe worked in tree trimming, stump removal, house painting and road construction. Anything to do with music, Joe was in! Whether it was dancing, winning a karaoke contest, family concerts in the living room, or playing the guitar, he loved music. Every year he planted a large garden and his kind soul didn't hesitate to share the fruit of his labor with friends and neighbors. He looked forward to baseball season, and didn't really have a favorite team, but definitely knew he wouldn't be cheering or betting for either New York team. It was rare that you would catch Joe inside; if you did he was likely watching Deal or No Deal or the Hallmark channel.
Joe's children have countless memories, and one they will always remember is camping and having Joe sneak to the tent with the car in the middle of the night and honking the horn. He was kind of a jokester, but was a sweetheart with a heart of gold, always putting his family first.
Joe will be deeply missed by his wife, Peggy; children, Mary Holloway, Stephanie Nielson, Jim Holloway, Joe Holloway, Jr., Bobby Holloway, Art Holloway, Jr., Lisa Holloway, and Tammy Holloway; grandchildren, Brooklyn Radloff, Ember Holloway, Dakota Holloway, Georgia Holloway, A.J. Holloway, and Jersey Goldberg; sisters, Viola Welch, Lily (Randy) Buck, Marie (Glen) Vestal and Emma Jackson; brothers, Albert (Kathy) Holloway, John (Cindy) Holloway, Irvin (Denise) Holloway, Virgil (Etta) Holloway and Richard (Nancy) Fredericksen; brothers-in-law, Jeff and Ronnie Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Holloway; and brothers, Art Holloway, Sr., Ralph Holloway and Virgil Holloway in infancy.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16th at Roland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 17th at Roland Funeral Home, with Pastor Ted Weishaupt, Unity Point Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery, west of Grant.
