LEON HANSEN HOEGH Leon Hansen Hoegh, age 92, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday evening, September 21, 2010, at the Cass County Hospice Center in Atlantic. Leon was born on June 30, 1918, in Leon, Iowa, to Walter and Bertha (Hansen) Hoegh. He grew up on a farm in rural Marne and attended school through the 8th grade at the Brighton Township country school. Leon joined the U.S. Air Force and served during WWII in England and Africa. After the war, he returned to farming north of Atlantic. In 1955, Leon was united in marriage to Janet Jacobsen. He was a life long member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Atlantic. He is survived by his wife Janet; his three children and their families: Lynette Hood of Tacoma, Washington, and children, Jenna, Jillian and Brandon; Daniel Hoegh and wife Allison of Atlantic, and children, Brigham, Maxwell, Eloise, Palmer, Harrison and Stuart; Thomas Hoegh and wife Catherine of Edna, Minnesota, and children, Jeremiah, Benjamin and Kelsey; and a sister Thelma Karstens of Atlantic, IA. Leon was preceded in death by a son Jerry Hoegh; a son-in-law Neal Hood; sisters, Adele Rude and Irene Vollrath; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Rude, Arthur Vollrath and Orville Karstens.Funeral Information There will be open visitation daily, with a viewing, at the Roland Funeral Home from 8:00 - 5:30 Thursday and Friday and from 8:00 - 4:00 on Saturday.
