Marjorie Hockom

Marjorie L. Hockom, 82, of Atlantic, passed away at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic on Friday, October 23, 2009. Marjorie Louva McDermott was born the daughter of Joyce and Ruby (Goodwin) McDermott on March 6, 1927 in Cass County near Anita, Iowa. She grew up attending school in Anita. Marjorie was married to Robert Hockom in Hiawatha, Kansas on December 14, 1946. The couple loved Okoboji vacations and largely enjoyed life, friends and family. She was employed at Blue Star, Colonial Bread, Ralph and Ed's Super Valu and Hy-Vee Grocery Store in Atlantic. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Does, and Nishna Hills. Her hobbies included golfing, traveling, camping, and was an avid fan of the Food Network and the Home and Garden TV. She made the most of nurturing her family and grandchildren.. Her survivors include her special friend Bob Vokt; children, Terry and Gail Hockom of Iowa City, IA, Rick and Karen Hockom of Council Bluffs, IA, Randy and Sue Hockom of Carroll, IA; and Traci and Brian Juelsgaard of Brayton, IA; her grand children, Darci (David) Bunting, Aaron (Jenny) Hockom, Brad (Heather Greene) Ellis, Annie Hockom and friend Kevin Sturm, Chris Hockom, Michael Hockom, Cody Juelsgaard, Kylie Juelsgaard and Colin Juelsgaard; great grandchildren, Danielle, Heather, Kayleigh, Ian and Bryce Bunting; Max Hockom and Sebastian Ellis; two sisters, Shirley Schmitt of Marne, IA and Marilyn Luke of Anita, IA; sister-in-law Patti (Paul) Brownsberger; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and her parents.Funeral Information There will be a memorial service held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, October 26 at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Reverend Leon Hodges, Hospice Chaplain, of Atlantic will officiate. Family will meet with friends Sunday, October 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Roland Funeral Home.
