Roland "Rollie" Henderson

Roland “Rollie” C. Henderson, 63, passed away on April 6th, 2017, on Lake Anita of an accidental drowning.

Rollie was born July 23, 1953, in Atlantic Iowa, the son of Harold Bell and Elsie Marie (Spencer) Henderson. The first six years of his life, he lived a mile and half east of Wiota, Iowa, until the family moved south of Wiota on N28 where he lived until his death. He attended Wiota Community School and graduated from Anita High School in 1972. After graduation from high school, he farmed with his dad, Harold, until Harold retired and moved to town. Rollie, like his father, always farmed in Franklin Township. In 1991, he became a partner in HRM Land and Cattle raising purebred Simmental cattle with his brother, Howard and nephew, Michael. He was a member of Farm Bureau and at one time served on the Cass County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

He is survived by his siblings, Howard (Marcella) Henderson of West Des Moines, IA, Janet (Robert) Fulwider of West Liberty, IA, Allan (Bonnie) Henderson of Brandon VT, and Margaret Henderson of Atlantic, IA; nieces and nephews, Michael (Elizabeth) Henderson of Wiota, IA, Tara (Mike) Essmann of West Des Moines, IA, Angela (Shawn) Karaidos of Urbandale, IA, Dustin (Sharon Norton) of Rutland, VT and Amber (Joshua) Stackhouse of Westbrook, ME; aunt, Janell S. Hines of Independence, IA; and 8 great-nieces and nephews.

Rollie is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Elsie Henderson; nephew, C. Daniel Fulwider; and grandparents, Edwin(Clay) and Lelah (Margaret) Henderson and Cecil and Pearl Spencer.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2017, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with Pastor Don McLean of the Atlantic Evangelical Church officiating. Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
