Obituary for
Dale Edwin "Ed" Hendershot
Dale “Ed” Hendershot, 65, passed away on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NB. He was a resident of the Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Center in Atlantic, IA and will be fondly remembered by staff and many friends there.
The son of William “Bill” and Mary Ann Hendershot, he was born January 10, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas and was married to Judy Ann Ross in Loveland, CO, June 1, 1968. They were members of the Church of Christ in Loveland.
He proudly owned & managed "Ed’s Market" and “Triple E Plumbing” together with his wife Judy for many years. Their teamwork and dedication proved successful and it directly spoke to their true work ethic, which was admired by many.
Ed never met a stranger nor did he ever hesitate to verbally share his opinion on just about any topic. His presence and stature were always "larger than life" and many referred to him as “Big Ed”. He was fond of country music, loved to sing, cook and spend time with friends and family. He was never afraid to try something new, which meant he had many hobbies and skills. These included: school bus driver, professional cake decorator, photographer, website designer, storm chaser, EMT, and volunteer fire fighter. His laugh, humor, and love will forever be missed by all of the people that were blessed to share his life with him.
Among the many, loved ones left to cherish his memory are his son, Tyler Hendershot of Des Moines, IA and daughter, Tyra Wittenborn & husband Kyle of Arlington, VA; two grandchildren, Keenan Hendershot and Jaden Harper Baer. Ed is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie & Randy Daugherty of Cumberland, IA and their two children, Charlie Daugherty & wife Tracy and Carrie Daugherty with her son and daughter, Madison and Payton; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Richard & Rose Ross of Loveland, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy “Ann” Hendershot and their infant son, Kenneth Dale; and mother and father in-law, Avery “Jack” & Martha Griffih Ross.
