Wilda Helms

Wilda Irene Helms, 90, a resident of Exira Care Center for the last two and one-half years, passed away there Wednesday, November 6, 2002.The daughter of Andrew and Rettie (Scears) Mathis, Wilda was born June 4, 1912, in Brownville, Nebraska where she grew up and attended school. She was united in marriage to Glen Herschel Helms on November 18, 1936 in Rockport, Missouri. Following married, they lived in Auburn, Nebraska. They moved to Atlantic in 1959.Wilda is survived by four daughters, Gladys Holmgren and her husband, Harold, of Alexandria, Minnesota, Marilyn Kirkendall of Falls City, Nebraska, Mary Margaret Parker and her husband, Doug, of Atlantic, and Judy Bahr and her husband, Dennis, of Stella, Nebraska; one son, Everett Helms, of Atlantic; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty three great-grandchildren; eighteen great- great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Helms; and son, Billy Helms; four grandchildren, Chad and Ryan Bahr, Doyle Holmgren and Zachary Helms; two brothers, Bill Mathis and Jesse Mathis; and two sisters, Viola Rawlings and Martha Haith.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Wilda will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002, at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Chuck Smith of the First Baptist Church in Atlantic officiating. Interment will be in the Southlawn Memory Garden at Atlantic.
