Jackie E. Heavner, 77, of Lewis, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, at CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.
Jackolyn Estel was born on May 29, 1938, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Jackie and Elaine (Baker) Craig. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Easton High School in 1956.
She married Ralph Norman in 1957, and the couple was blessed with four children. The couple moved away from the Kansas City area for a short time, but later returned and settled nearby in Blackburn, MO, where she stayed home taking care of her family. Jackie was married to Ted White for a short time before her marriage to Bob Heavner on June 28, 1985. She worked as a waitress for both Wade's and Connie's Restaurants in downtown Kansas City for nearly 20 years. At one time Jackie and a friend owned and operated the Cozy Kitchen in Adrian, MO. Jackie and Bob moved to Lewis in 2000. After moving to Iowa she began working at Wal-Mart where she greeted countless customers over the years.
Jackie looked forward to visits to the casino where her favorite pastime was pulling the one arm bandit. She had a gift for cooking and baking, and treated her family to tasty pecan pie, tomato preserves, homemade noodles and gravy, homemade marshmallows, and red eye gravy over the years. She also enjoyed fishing and camping trips through the years. When Bob drove truck for K-Mart, Jackie often rode along to keep him company.
