Obituary for Geraldine Lorraine Hatfield

Geraldine Lorraine Hatfield of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at the age of 90 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic on Sunday, February 13, 2011. Geraldine "Gerry" was born in Carson, Iowa on October 21, 1920 to Samuel F. Carr and Lottie L. (Quimby) Carr. She attended school in Carson and graduated from high school there. She was a nurse's aide at the Montgomery Memorial Community Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa for 35 years. On October 24, 1958, Gerry was united in marriage to Dale Leon Hatfield and they were living in Bella Vista, Arkansas when Dale passed away on April 17, 2004. Gerry was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic and the Highland Christian Church in Belle Vista. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and dominos, bird watching and getting together with friends and family, especially her children and grand children. Gerry was very proud of her years of service at Union Carbine and the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. She wanted to give a special thanks to the staff at Heritage House for their wonderful care of her and to Pastor Nancy Jensen at the United Church of Christ for all her prayers. She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Will and husband Jon of Bella Vista, AR, Sandi Heller and husband Dan of Kansas City, MO and Sheryl Jensen and husband Jerry of Atlantic, IA; two sons, Dennis Hatfield and wife Jonna of Ozark, Mo and Jeff Hatfield and wife Jill of Maple Grove, MN; a special daughter-in-law Chris Shoemaker and husband Charlie of Arizona City, AZ; a brother Ray Carr and wife Betty of Carson, IA; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
