Harvey Williamson

Harvey Williamson, 76, of Anita, Iowa, died Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic of an aortic aneurysm.

Harvey Joseph Williamson was born August 16, 1948, to Boyd and Mildred (Stribek) Williamson in Des Moines, Iowa at Blank Children’s Hospital. He enjoyed living his entire life in Anita. As a youngster, he was active in football, wrestling, bowling, but he especially loved track and field. He went to school in Anita and learned at an early age that achieving a meaningful life requires consistent effort, not just luck or chance.

One day while at his mom’s café (Millie’s Cafe), he met Judy Baier. Soon after, he and Judy married on March 12, 1970, and raised five children, JoBeth, Mike, David, Jason and Shawn. He also had a son from a previous marriage, Kevin. Harvey and Judy were looking forward to celebrating 55 years of marriage this March. Without question, his greatest accomplishment was raising his children to love life to the fullest and to never quit.

In their younger years, even after a long day of work, Harvey enjoyed taking Judy to one of the local Anita establishments for a good night of dancing with friends. Another of his favorite past times was taking memorable trips to see his family in Denver, Colorado each year. Harvey loved to manage the barbeque grill, travel the state to watch his grandson Chris in dirt track races, and occasionally try his luck at one of the area casinos. He conquered life challenges with a laid-back demeanor and quiet determination. Harvey never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, which led to many lasting friendships.

One of Harvey’s passions was farming, and he worked 25 years with Gary and Judy Neighbors on their family farm. The last 22 years were spent driving a semi-truck for Worldwide Dedicated Services and Pitney Bowes. You could always find him with a full cup of coffee in his hand and a lunchbox full of sweet treats.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Judy of Anita; son, Kevin (Dee) Williamson of Greenfield, MO; daughter, JoBeth (Dennis) LaFoy of Audubon, IA; son, Mike (Diann) Williamson of Adel, IA; son, David (Rhonda) Williamson of Indianola, IA; son, Jason (Becky) Williamson of Anita; son, Shawn (Brenda) Williamson of Anita; 17 grandchildren, Nikki (Cody) Pomeroy, Cole P. Williamson, Chase Williamson, Tristan Williamson, Kylee Williamson, Rylan Williamson Britnay (Robert) Wilson, Haile Scanlon, Nick (Maddy) Harban, Nathan Harban, and Tyler Harban; six great-grandchildren, Kendall Pomeroy, Beckett Pomeroy, Lillian LaFoy, Lucy LaFoy, Armani Wilson, and Angelo Wilson; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins in Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Mildred; brothers, Craig Williamson and Jim Williamson; and many aunts and uncles in Colorado.
