Eileen Harris

Eileen Alice Harris, age 84, a long-time resident of Atlantic passed away at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center on Monday, April 17, 2006.Eileen was born on March 20, 1922 to Clyde C. and Elsie (Scherinsky) Cox in Atlantic, Iowa where she lived her entire life and graduated from the Atlantic High School. On January 17, 1946, Eileen was joined in marriage to Giles F. Harris in Atlantic. Eileen spent most of her life as a homemaker but she did take time to clean the Hawkeye Bowling Alley for a few years. She was a member of the Buck Creek Methodist Church and she did volunteer work at the Danish Immigration Museum in Elk Horn, IA. Eileen was a poet and belonged to the "Area Artists and Writers Organization". She received many awards for her poems from several organizations.She is survived by her son, Lanny Harris, of Atlantic; cousins, Elberta Frank, Edna Eblen and Junette Kees all of Atlantic, and a sister-in-law Wilma Phillips and husband, Charles, of Marshall, MO.Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Elsie, and her husband, Giles, who passed away October 19, 1989.Services for Eileen will be held Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the Roland Funeral Home at 1:30P with interment in the Atlantic Cemetery.
