Versa Hansen

Versa May Hansen, 82, of Atlantic, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.The daughter of George, Jr. and Mary E. Campbell Eagan, Versa was born May 31, 1918, on a farm east of Hamlin, Iowa where she grew up and attended Audubon Community Schools. She was united in marriage to Oscar F. Hansen on December 18, 1935, in Atlantic. They moved to Atlantic in 1953 and she had resided here since then. Versa was a cashier for Thriftway and Safeway in Atlantic and was a bookkeeper for Wonder Bread. She was a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Senior Citizens Center of Atlantic of which she was past president and in charge of the fund-raising drive for the new center in Atlantic. Versa loved to play cards, to garden, and to share about her children and grandchildren.Surviving are her children: Wilbur L. Hansen and his wife, Sharon, of Atlantic, Franklin E. Hansen and his wife, Carolyn, of Mason City, Iowa, Richard J. Hansen, Sr. and his wife, Martha, of Atlantic, Mary E. Perkins and her husband, Terrill, Sr., of Atlantic, Daryl E. Hansen and his wife, Neva, of Omaha, Donna McCabe and her husband, James, of Burlington, Iowa and Jerry J. Hansen and his wife, Kandy, of New Llano, Louisiana. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Eagan of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Virgil and Arthur; two grandsons, and Vernon and Thomas; and two brothers, Dan and Floyd.Roland Funeral Service -- Atlantic, IowaFuneral InformationA funeral mass was held for Versa on Saturday, January 6, 2001, at 10:30 AM at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa with Msgr.
