Richard J. "Dick" Hansen
RICHARD J. "DICK" HANSEN, SR.
Richard "Dick" J. Hansen, 74, a resident of Atlantic, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, at his home.
The son of Oscar Frederick & Versa Mae Eagen Hansen, he was born December 31, 1939, in Hamlin, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Martha Ann Rogers, June 24, 1962, in Atlantic. Richard was a retired First Sergeant in the US Army and served in Vietnam & Korea. He received two Purple Hearts and a number of other distinguished medals for his service. Richard enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood working, Western novels and Blue Grass Country Music. He is fondly remembered by his family for his jovial nature and teasing everyone—all the time! He was known for his blue eyes and his tender heart that loved children.
He is survived by his wife, Martha of Atlantic; two daughters, Renee (Dwight) Hansen and Miranda "Randie" (Keith) Shultz; one son, Richard, Jr. "Rik" Hansen; a granddaughter, Briana (Nick) Pledge; great grandchildren, Aiden & Rogan Pledge; numerous grandpuppies; his siblings, Wilbur (Sharon) Hansen, Frank (Carolyn) Hansen, Mary (Terrell) Perkins, Daryl (Neva) Hansen, Donna (Jim) McCabe and Jerry (Kandy) Hansen; his step-grandson, Kyle Fetters; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arthur & Virgil Hansen; step-son, Tyler Fetters; and three nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, eleven o'clock a.m., at the Roland Funeral Home with Mike Eells of the Atlantic Gospel Chapel, officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery, with Military Rites being presented by the Atlantic Color Guard.
Family will plan to meet friends and relatives, Thursday morning, April 23, from ten to eleven a.m., at the Roland Funeral Home, with Masonic Services being held at ten a.m. Open visitation will be available Tuesday & Wednesday, 8:30-5:30 and Thursday morning, prior to service time.
