Maxine Hansen
MAXINE HANSEN
Thelma Maxine Hansen, 93, of Atlantic, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Center, which had been her home since June 4th.
The daughter of Ludwig J. and Susie L. (Barnum) Neumann, she was born August 10, 1920 in Muskegon, Michigan, where she grew up and attended high school. She was united in marriage to John Robert Poulin in 1938, who passed away in December 1948. She married Arnold Hansen, September 15, 1951, at the farm where they made their home. She sold Avon for many years and was a nurse's aid for Atlantic Care Center and later Cass County Memorial Hospital for a total of 24 years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church since 1949 and was involved in the church Ladies' Aid. She was a Brownie & Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed her Neighborhood Club. Maxine will be remembered for her easy-going personality and her knitting and crocheting. Each family member had a special share of her love.
She is survived by her children, Brian Poulin of Mason City, Iowa, Alan (Carmelee) Poulin of Atlantic, Peggy (Hank) Bramman of Manchester, Iowa, Martha Scholl of Atlantic, David (Jean) Hansen of Atlantic, and Marilyn (Steve) Jacobs of Atlantic; her siblings, Pauline Buikema, Lewis F. (Dorothy) Neumann; Lorraine Yerki, Richard (Katy) Neumann and Roger "Pudge" (Nancy) Neumann all of Muskegon, Michigan. Her grandchildren, Laura Starbuck, Karen Schuttler, Joyce Poulin, Brian Poulin, Jr., Michael Poulin, Lucinda Keller, Kelly Freilinger, Kathleen Ratzlaff-Reed, Kari Klaes, Bruce Ratzlaff, Cory, Craig and Christoffer Scholl, Lyndsey, Joel, Jayden, and Jarrett Hansen, Stephanie Williams, Cortney, Whitney & Justin Jacobs; 44 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, June Poulin of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Robert; a daughter, Linda Maxine, in infancy; her second husband, Arnold; two sisters, Lois (Jim) Elliott, Caroline; brothers and sisters-in-law, Art (Erma) Bro, Woodrow (Wilma) Hansen, Fern (Don) Nelson; grandchildren, Vincent Esbeck, John Poulin & Paula Rabin; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 3, at 1:30 PM, at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic with Pastors Ken Davidson & Leon Hodges officiating. Interment will be in the Southlawn Memory Garden following the funeral. Friends and family are invited for afternoon refreshments at the church after the interment.
The family will gather with friends, Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM, at Roland Funeral Home. Open visitation is available at Roland Funeral Home Wednesday from 8 AM-6 PM.
