Joyce L. Hansen
Joyce L. Hansen, 73, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Caring Acres in Anita, following a long illness.
Friends and family will remember Joyce’s Virginia drawl, her deeply held faith, love of music and passion for motorsports, baseball and basketball. To know Joyce, was to know what it is to be hugged--a trait which earned her the nickname “the Hugging Grandma:” Her open and loving heart also led to her unofficial adoption of two grandchildren, Hezekiah Cross and Azure Cross - Corell.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucille Seward; husband, Kenneth Hansen; and three sisters, Elizabeth Carmine, Gladys Seward, and Shirley Ann Campbell.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Reynolds; son, Dwight (Renee) Hansen; stepson, Kenneth Hansen Jr.; four granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren, Amanda (Kelby) Smith and their children, Dreven, Dathyn and Dezlyn, Natosha Duffey and her children, Aiden, Bosten, Hayden and Jayden, Ashley Hansen and her daughter, Ruby, and Amber Hoyt; two brothers, James Seward and Cary Seward; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, at Roland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Roland Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service and burial will take place at a later date.
