Anna Hansen

Longtime Atlantic resident, Anna Marie Hansen, 98, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa. She was born January 23, 1908 in Audubon County to Neils and Christina (Petersen) Nelsen. She attended Country school until 8th grade. On November 12, 1927, she married Martin Emil Hansen. Anna and Martin celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1977, a year and a half before he passed away in 1979. Over the years Anna worked for the Modern Truck Stop, Valley Restaurant and then for Hy-Vee as a cook until her retirement in 1978. Anna was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, cooking and entertaining, floral arranging, cake baking and decorating. She loved "Jeopardy", "Wheel of Fortune" and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and she LOVED dogs. Her favorite pet was her dog, "Spunky.&" The family will remember her as very loving and caring.
