Alice D. Hansen
Alice D. Hansen, 90, a resident of Heritage House, passed away there Monday morning, June 24, 2002.The daughter of John and Lucinda Emma (Keith) Rotherham, Alice was born August 4, 1911 in Atlantic, Iowa. Her mother passed away in 1923 and she was raised by her father and her Aunt Julia Rotherham. She became a member of the first United Methodist Church at age eleven. Alice was united in marriage to Ralph Robert Hansen on November 22, 1933 in Atlantic. They farmed their entire married life southwest of Atlantic.Surviving are two sons, Arlis Hansen and wife, Darlene, of Council Bluffs and Owen Hansen and wife, Karen, of Atlantic; two daughters, Janet Sievers and husband, Donovan (Toby), of Perham, Minnesota and Joyce Scharf and husband, Merlin, of Anita; eight grandchildren, Mark Hansen and wife, Tori, of Council Bluffs, Dianna Rubey and husband, Joseph, Jr., of Phoenix, Arizona, Joanna Joans and husband, David, of Avondale Estates, Georgia, Robert Hansen and wife, Valerie of Adel, Iowa, Terry Scarf of Leavenworth, Kansas, Randy Scarf and wife, Sherri, of Gladbrook, Iowa, Bradley Scarf and wife, Mary, of Milligan, Nebraska, and Rodney Scarf and wife, Diane, of Anita, Iowa; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Busse of Council Bluffs and Mary McClellan of Atlantic; and a number of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her Aunt Julia; her husband; four sisters, Julia Hansen, Genevieve Mathisen, Margaret Murphy and Leona Rostherham (in infancy); and one great-grandson, Stephen Scarf (in infancy).Funeral InformationFuneral services for Alice will be held on Friday, June 28, 2002, at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Tompsie Smith of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
