Lester William Hamann
Lester William Hamann, 86, of Atlantic, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001, at Cass County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.Lester was born March 24, 1915 on a farm northwest of Atlantic, the son of William and Catherine (Paulsen) Hamann. Lester lived most of his life in Cass County. On May 22, 1940, he was united in marriage to Mabel Marcella Darling and to this union three daughters were born, Karen Kay, Sharon May and Patricia Anne. Lester farmed for several years in the Wiota area and in later years he worked for the Anita Schools, Heritage House and Robinson Hardware. Lester was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic.Lester is survived by his wife, Marcella; two daughters, Karen Laartz and her husband, Lyle, Sharon Ticknor and her husband, Keith, all of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brian Laartz and his wife, Brenda, of Longmont, Colorado, Amy Dean and her husband, Eric, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Dr. Brandt Laartz and his fiancée, Beth, of Tampa, Florida, Kirk Ticknor and his wife, Wendy, of Huntingtown, Maryland, Lisa Loseke and her husband, Tim, Kristin Schmidt and her husband, Darrin, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; two great-granddaughters; seven great grandsons; one brother-in-law, Lyle Scholl of Anita; one aunt, Erma Esbeck of Atlantic; one nephew and several nieces.He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine Hamann ; one daughter, Patricia Hamann; and one sister, Arlene Scholl.Funeral InformationServices for Lester were held Thursday, April 12, 2001, at 10:30AM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Reverend Charles J. Downing of the First United Methodist Church officiating.Interment was in the Atlantic Cemetery at Atlantic, Iowa.
