Edward N. Hale
Edward N. Hale, 65, of Elliott, Iowa, formally of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday morning, January 4, 2003 in a car accident.Edward was born July 23, 1937 in San Francisco, California and grew up attending schools there. He served in the United States Navy, and then was employed for 30 years as a Seaman in the Military Sealift Command while he was home based on the Oregon Coast. He lived in Atlantic, Iowa for three years before moving to Elliott, Iowa and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Atlantic. Ed particularly enjoyed fishing, cooking, loved children and music, and played the harmonica.Surviving are his wife, Roberta A. Hale of Atlantic; three daughters; Barbara Ann Hale of Fairview, Oregon, Melody Lynn Hale, and Katherine (Kathy) Beth Hale of Milwaukee, Oregon; one son, Fred Gussman of Minnesota; three grandchildren, Brandon McKenzie, David and Dominique Hale; two-step sons, Bill Coatney, and Eva of Avoca and Tom Keil of Atlantic; three-step grandchildren, Crystal Ann, and her fiancé, Pat Zarbano, Christopher William, and Kolton Ray Coatney; two brothers, Earl Hale of Martinez, California and Eugène Hale of Wauna, Washington, and three sisters; Ellen Hastings of Owalla, Washington, Eleanor Able of Port Orchard, Washington, and Evelyn Kinel of Oklahoma.It was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Murray Hale and Mary Ruth Kodad Hale and his first wife, Ruth.Roland Funeral Service - Atlantic, IowaFuneral InformationServices for Ed will be held January 8, at 1:30PM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with Pastor Curtis Denny and Fred Dana officiating.
