Obituary for Ruth Evelyn Haig (Burright)

RUTH EVELYN HAIG

Ruth (Burright) Haig, 74, of Atlantic, Iowa and formerly of Omaha, Nebraska passed away at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab on March 27, 2012.
Ruth Evelyn Burright was born the daughter of Donald M. and Bertha Mae (Long) Burright in Wichita, Kansas on June 23, 1937. In her youth, she attended Gravity school and graduated with the Gravity High School Class of 1955.
Ruth married Kenneth Leroy Finnell and to their union, three children were born. In 1967, Ruth married Alan Poulin in Atlantic. One child was born to this union. During this time, she was employed first with Beaudine Lampshade Factory and later as City Clerk of Atlantic.
Later, Ruth and Lloyd Haig were united in marriage. The couple moved to California where they lived for a number of years. Ruth returned to the mid-west, where she worked as an office manager at Youth Emergency Services in Omaha, Nebraska until she retired in 2004 - following 15 years of service.
Ruth enjoyed her gardening, crocheting afghans for the children and grandchildren, as well as raising her grandchildren when needs arose. She especially adored her dogs, Petri and Peppy. She was a honorary lifetime member of the Board of Youth Emergency Services of Omaha, NE. Ruth will be remembered by her family and friends as being patient, caring, very personable, and for having a good sense of humor.
She is survived by her sons: Ken Finnell (Patty Parish) of Omaha, NE, Joe Finnell (Wendy) of Atlantic, Don Finnell (Luann) of Atlantic; sisters: Eleanor Bargeron (Bob Jackson) of Garden Grove, CA, Martha (Darvin) Holcomb of Sherman, IL, Sharon Williams of Hannibal, MO, and Rosalie (Doyle) Nally of Meridian, ID; six grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren; aunts and uncles, including Wayne and Helen Mae Burright of Omaha, NE: as well as several nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Paula Renee (Cooper) Raven; and her grandson Chadleon David Cooper.
Her funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Following, there will be a committal service at Gus Cemetery northeast of Clarinda Iowa. Chaplain Tom Williamson of Ascera Care Hospice in Council Bluffs will officiate. There will be open visitation daily from 8:00 to 5:30 until family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
