Obituary for
Janet E Gustin
Janet Elaine Boehme Gustin, 65, formerly of Atlantic and more recently of Adel, was surrounded by family and loved ones on Friday, May 6, 2016, as she moved on to her heavenly home with the Lord from the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa, where she had been during the last few weeks.
She was born November 12, 1950, to Marie and Earl Boehme in Audubon, Iowa and attended Atlantic Community Schools, in Atlantic. She was united in marriage to Edward Lee Gustin on February 16, 1969, and went on to have four children, Shawn Lee Gustin, Cynthia Ann (Gustin) Doerr, Steven Rock Gustin and Thomas "Tommy" Matthew Gustin.
Janet was a hard working mother doing house cleaning, working as a nurse aid and in packaging plants over her life. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Her greatest pride was being a mother and being with her children as much as possible.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia "Cyndi" Doerr of West Des Moines; son, Steven "Rock" Gustin of Atlantic; and daughter-in-law, Alison Gustin of West Des Moines; grandchildren, KayLee Ann Gustin and Andrew Kenneth Kitelinger both of West Des Moines, Matthew Lee Gustin of Ames, Aleea Destany-Ann Doerr of West Des Moines; sisters, Karen Lillard and husband, Bill of Atlantic, Marlene Dickerson and husband, Dale of Green Bay, WI, Sherrie Brooks and husband, Ray of Urbandale, and Donna Schaaf of Boone; brother, Ronald Boehme of Elk Horn; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Gustin in 1980; sons, Thomas "Tommy" Matthew Gustin in 1986 and Shawn Lee Gustin in 2013; her parents; nephews, Stan Lillard and Carl Warren Swolley; and niece, Karen Duncan.
Open visitation will be available Monday, May 9, from eight a.m. to five-thirty p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, at one o'clock p.m., at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday morning, prior to the service from nine to eleven a.m. A family committal service will be in the Malvern Cemetery in Malvern, Iowa, at three p.m..
