Louise Gubbels

Louise Katherine Gubbels, 81, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2001, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa. The daughter of Bert Lafayette and Christina Cecilia (Kurtenbach) Scarlett, Louise was born on July 30, 1920 in Adair County and graduated from the Guthrie Center High School in 1938. Following high school, she was a secretary for an attorney in Guthrie Center for a couple of years before moving to Omaha and then to California. Before moving to Atlantic, Louise was married to Willis Charles Henderson. He passed away March 12, 1948. She worked at Coast-to-Coast in Atlantic and on August 16, 1958, Louise was united in marriage to Victor Gubbels in Atlantic. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.Surviving are her husband Victor B. Gubbels; two daughters, Judith Talarico-Kunze and husband Calvin Kunze of Milford, Nebraska and Victoria Louise Behrends and husband Todd and son Nicholas of Clive, Iowa; two more grandsons, Stephen Talarico and wife Michelle Lisec-Talarico of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Cody Talarico and fiancee Jennifer Calhoon of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Marie Belding of Tehachapi, California; one brother Joseph Scarlett of Council Bluffs, Iowa and a number of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Paul Scarlett; her first husband Willis Henderson and a son-in-law Ernest Talarico.Funeral InformationA funeral mass will be held for Louise on Monday, November 26,2001, at 10:00AM at the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic with Father John Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery.
