Lavonne Nadine Glissmann
LaVonne Nadine Glissmann, 80, long time resident of Atlantic, was born on October 2, 1925 at her parent"s home near Anita, Iowa and died April 8, 2006 at the Creighton University Hospital in Omaha, NE.LaVonne was baptized and confirmed at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, IA. At the age of three, she moved with her parents to a farm near Oakfield Township. She attended rural schools and graduated from Exira High School. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for Walnut Grove, a clerk at Gregersen Drug Store in Atlantic and at the Colonial Inn Restaurant in Walnut.On February 12, 1949, LaVonne was united in marriage to Leroy Glissmann in Atlantic. Three children were born to this union: Terry Lee, Brenda Sue and Thomas George.The couple farmed north of Walnut for many years. They later retired from farming and moved to Atlantic in 1994. LaVonne was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic and was a volunteer for the Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.Survivors include her husband, Leroy; children, Terry of Alamogordo, NM, Tom and wife, Julia, of Carroll and Brenda Hamilton and her husband, Rich, of Bethany, MO; her grandchildren, Dillion and Derek Glissmann of Carroll, IA, Erik and Aaron Glissmann of Dallas, TX and Kristian Berry of Clarinda, IA; her brothers, Virgil Clemsen and wife, Violet, of Audubon, Lyle Clemsen and wife, Jane, of Clarion and Glen Clemsen and wife, Rosa, of Exira; one brother-in-law, Lyle Peters of Avoca; one uncle, Lester Clemsen of Atlantic; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Preceding LaVonne in death were her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Lucille Glissmann and a sister-in-law, Marian Peters.Funeral InformationVisitation Services: Thursday, April 13, 2006, 9:30 interment in the Walnut Cemetery, Walnut, Iowa Funeral: 4/13/2006, 11:00:00 AM Burial: Walnut Cemetery
