Gail Lange

Gail Lange, 87, of Atlantic, Iowa died Friday, December 30th, 2022, at Allen Place in Atlantic, Iowa.

The son of John and Irma (Bramer) Lange, Gail was born November 29, 1935, in Atlantic and attended country school in Shelby County.  He was united in marriage to Annabelle Walter, November 17, 1955, at Elk Horn Lutheran Parsonage in Elk Horn, Iowa.  They started out life together farming Northwest of Atlantic and remained there for their entire married life.  He truly enjoyed his vocation and he thought of it as more of a calling.  Together with his son, Russell Lange and son-in-law, Darrell Kirchhoff, they started L&K Tiling, transforming many farms in the area over the course of 28 years.  He retired in 2002.  In his earlier years, he competed in tractor pulls with his trusty Wards Tractor, as well as taking journeys to other states for tractor rides.

Gail and Annabelle traveled coast to coast and border to border in their motorhome.  He was an avid Nascar fan and they spent many winters in Florida while attending the Daytona 500.  And then there was Sturgis . . . he attended over 30 times in a row!  He especially enjoyed keeping a well-maintained farmstead and spent many hours on his lawn mower, right up to the past few months.  Gail was also a life long member of the Elk Horn Lutheran church.

He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Lange; daughter, Becky (Darrell) Kirchhoff; son, Russell (Colleen) Lange; five grandchildren, Amber (Kevin) Jipsen, Jared (Jen) Kirchhoff, Mallory Kirchhoff, Jill (Clayton) Keiser, Travis (Samantha) Hansen; 12 great grandchildren, Taylor, Spencer, Brynna, Cole, Clayton, Cooper, Zoey, London, Shelby, Hayden, Nathan and Alex; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Wanda Wiges; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Andersen, Paul Walter, Donald Walter and Henry Walter; his step-mother, Erna Lange; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Walter, Connie Walter and Mardelle Maley; and niece, Sherrie Davis.

Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn.  Burial will be in the Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
