Mabel Franklin

Mabel Franklin, age 90, formerly of Atlantic, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Marlene Cummins, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mabel was born September 1, 1913, to Nels and Katherine (Jensen) Nelsen in rural Brayton, Iowa. She attended country school in Cass County and married Henry D. Franklin on December 24, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska. Mabel was a member of the Lutheran Church and was a nurses aid and caregiver most of her life. Surviving are her children; four daughters, Irene Weldin of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marlene Cummins of Council Bluffs, Betty Moore and husband Darrell of Council Bluffs and Katie Kuster and husband Roland of Council Bluffs; a brother Folmer "Pete&" Nelsen of Anita; three sisters, Virginia Crozier and husband Ralph of Adair, Iowa, Beulah Waldon of Waterloo and Mary Ann and husband Dean Stegen of Strawberry Point; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
