Obituary for Louis Frederick Frank

Louis Frank died May 6, 2010 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf, IA, at the age of 89.He was born to Gottlieb H. and Mary L. Wohlenhaus Frank at their farm home 2½ miles southeast of Lyman, Iowa on October 21, 1920. He attended Pringry Country School and Atlantic High School, graduating with the class of 1938. After graduation he was associated with his father in a farming operation in the Lyman, Cumberland and Massena areas.On July 6, 1946 he was united in marriage with Pauline H. Stakey of Massena at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Three children were born to this marriage; twin sons, Gene and Gerald and daughter, Kathleen. He continued to farm in the Cumberland and Massena areas until he retired in 2001. In 1979 they moved to Atlantic and resided there until 2006 when they moved to a senior living community in Bettendorf to be closer to their children.Louis is survived by his sons, Gene of Bettendorf, IA, Gerald and his wife Kristen of Sioux Falls, SD, and daughter Kathleen Lohr and her husband Bob, of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Kaia Downing and her husband Brad, and daughters, Shea and Nissa of Sioux City, IA, Derek Frank and his wife, Coreen, and children, Hailey, and Tyler, of Coralville, IA, and Summer Ressler and her husband Travis, of Columbus, OH;one sister Ramona Knop of Atlantic; two sister-in-laws, Helen Stakey of Anita and Shirley Stakey of Story City; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Gottlieb H. and Mary L.
