Cressie M. Foster
Cressie Marie Foster, 93, a long time Atlantic resident, died Sunday, August 22, 2004 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. Cressie was born to her parents, John and Susie (Hodges) Oller, May 2, 1911 in Winterset, Iowa. She grew up attending school in Winterset until the age of 9, when the family moved to Creston, Iowa where she finished her schooling. As a young woman, she worked in clerical positions. Cressie was married to Earnest T. Foster in Creston, June 28, 1931. Following their marriage, they lived in Creston one year, after which, they relocated in Corning for ten years, where Cressie gave birth to a son, Robert. They then lived in Afton and Des Moines. They moved to Atlantic the summer of 1943 where she was a very active member of the First Baptist Church. Cressie loved gardening and working with flowers and will be remembered by family and many friends for her kind and cheerful ways. Survivors include her son, Robert D. Foster and his wife, Karen of Shenandoah; one granddaughter, Tamara Hanson and husband, Marty of Red Oak; one grandson, Craig Foster of Shenandoah, two great-grandsons, Zachary Foster of Shenandoah and Christopher Hanson of Red Oak; two brothers, Kenny Oller of Wheatridge, CO. and Joe Oller and his wife, Mary of Knoxville, and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
