Gilbert Flathers

Gilbert "Gib&" Carl Flathers, 88, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 11, 2002, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.The son of Benjamin Burt and Jetta May (Jones) Flathers, Gib was born May 15, 1914, in Atlantic where he grew up and attended school.Surviving are four sisters, Lottie Eagan, Iva Anderson, both residents of Atlantic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Estella Kendall of Atlantic and Bernice Jensen of Adair; one brother, Leonard (Tiny) Flathers and his wife, Wanda, of Exira; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lilah Morris, Edna Harland, Esther Flathers and Lucille Struble; and two brothers, Harley and Clarence Flathers.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Gib will be held at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa on Thursday, November 14, 2002, at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Chuck Smith of the First Baptist Church in Atlantic officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
