Kenneth Leroy "Hank" Finnell
Kenneth "Hank&" Leroy Finnell, 71, a longtime resident of the Adel and Atlantic areas, passed away Monday, March 25, 2002, in Durham, North Carolina after moving to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina nine months ago.The son of John E. and Mary Ellen (Sullivan) Finnell, Hank was born December 20, 1930, in rural Cumberland, Iowa, where he grew up and attended school. He was married to Laura Jean Hubbard on November 23, 1968 in Omaha, Nebraska. Hank had worked as a farm hand and was employed by Harvester Construction, Parker Brothers Games and Dahl"s Grocery, retiring November 3, 2000. He attended Plymouth Bretheran at Adel.Surviving are his wife, Laura Finnell of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina; three sons, Kenny L. Fennell and friend, Patty Perish, of Omaha, L. Joe Finnell and wife, Wendy, and Don E. Finnell and wife, Luann, all of Atlantic; his first wife, Ruth Haig, of Omaha, Nebraska; stepchildren, Jean L. Burns and friend, Lacy Jackson, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, John M. Williams and wife, Glenda, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Larry H. Williams and friend, Emily, of Lynchburg, Virginia, Sue R. Lampinen and husband, Rick, of Orland Park, Illinois, Bill V. Williams and wife, Kim, of Van Meter, Iowa and Tony S. Williams and wife, Kristie, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Suzanne Jacobson and friend, Rick Holmes, of Red Oak, Iowa, Jody Holaday and husband, Kevin, of Marne, Iowa, Jennifer, Melissa and Katie Finnell, all of Atlantic; six great-grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; nine great step grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Fennell and wife, Maxine, Bill fennel and wife, Jan, all of Clinton, Missouri, and Walter Fennell and wife, Norma Jean, of Conway, Iowa; one sister, Violet Meyer and husband, Skip, of Grant; his father-in-law, Harold Hubbard; one brother-in-law, Art Hubbard, both of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, George, Stanley, Ivan and Marvin Finnell; and step grandson, Matthew Thompson.Funeral InformationServices for Kenneth will be held on Friday, March 29, 2002, at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic at 1:30 P.M. with C. G. Lindeman of Lyman, Iowa officiating. Interment will be in the Weirich Cemetery at Lyman.
